Alex originally joined DW Simpson in the Sydney Office in 2003 as Head of Research. Prior to arriving in Sydney, he had been based in London working for a major Financial Recruitment Consultancy, focusing on roles of a technical and mathematical nature. He was able to exploit his prior experience of financial markets to quickly develop his knowledge of the niche Actuarial recruitment market, building up a database of active candidates and clients in the Australian market.

He returned to London in 2005 and spearheaded the development of the DW Simpson presence in India, London and more recently Ireland. Alex has a detailed knowledge of the fast growing Indian insurance market where demand for qualified actuaries is high. In particular, he works with many international joint ventures establishing a presence in either the life or non-life markets in India. The DW Simpson network of offices and web advertising proves a vital source of quality candidates for clients’ consideration.

Alex fosters long term relationships with his candidates, many of whom are considering overseas moves with implications for the whole family. He can give them a useful insight into comparables when they are considering potential roles in a foreign market and share with them his direct experience gained from being an expat abroad. Alex, a graduate in psychology, is a dual citizen of Australia and the UK. In his spare time, he spends time with his young family, enjoys being a voice-over artist on UK commercials and is a keen motorcyclist. Acting is another passion, with Alex hoping to expand further upon parts won in several Australian feature films.
